Are you looking for this incredible yarn? Find it at Dyeing for Art.

We all have a secret skein hiding in our stash. You know the skein. Maybe it is speckled or tonal or the perfect shade of purple, and it practically jumped off the shelf and into your arms. You didn’t worry about what project you might knit with it when you got it. It was just SO BEAUTIFUL that it had to come home with you. But now you aren’t sure what to do with it, so it has been hiding in your stash, getting prettier and trickier to knit up. It’s your secret skein.

The Secret Skein cowl was designed for that special, stand-alone skein that you have tucked away. Using just ONE SKEIN of yarn, this cowl is an uncomplicated knit and my favorite, most wearable shape. As a bonus, this design is especially fun to knit in those tricky tonal, speckled and variegated yarns. Plus, the yardage can be easily adjusted.

Worked SEAMLESSLY from the top down, it knits up quickly (like any good cowl should), but wears like a hassle-free shawl. Unlike traditional tube cowls that rumple into a pile of knitting around your neck, this shawl-shaped construction lets your knitting shine by creating a triangular front and shortened back. The shape is wonderful, wearable, and just plain fun to knit.

This Cowl Includes:

  • Top-Down, Seamless Construction

  • Shawl-Shaped Wearability

  • A photo tutorial for Elongated stitches

  • Clear Written Instructions
